Canon Creative Studio
Canon has always named their event the “Canon Creative Studio”; an event that brings filmmakers together for movie discussions, networking, and hands demonstrations with the latest tech from the Canon EOS Cinema line. Giving off the vibe of feeling like BTS (behind the scenes), we felt the event takes filmmakers not just behind the scenes but Beyond the Scenes.

Typically Sundance has a specific theme to adhere to, but in 2019 they did not. The style was a minimalist brand that was open to interpretation. Based on that we began to explore the style the French New Wave of the 1960s. Digging into old titles and posters from that era for inspiration, we designed our theme based on that aesthetic. Another large influence was the work Piet Mondrian which you’ll clearly recognize.

Along with the creative deliverables and event planning, we managed the Portrait Studio. Sundance attendees could stop by for a professional headshot, with touch-ups and an A4 print to take home as. The team edited thousands of photos over 4 days/nights. We established an Adobe Lightroom Catalog to set a consistent mood and then used iPads, Apple Pencil and ProCreate for on the fly retouching. Sundance definitely brings out some interesting characters.
